I just got started on it and discovered that when I cast on 72 st and then K2, P2 around I end up with 2 K stitches at the beginning and the end of the round. I'm afraid if I change the number of st I'll have a problem later with the decreases. Any suggestions?Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02343263858248452237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19637353.post-24909937499272952222011-11-08T15:13:38.903-08:002011-11-08T15:13:38.903-08:00I feel like I am missing something or I just don&#...I feel like I am missing something or I just don't understand how cables work in the round. The instructions are stating to only do BC4, and the results are different from the picture, which to me look like BC4 and then FC4 on the next cable and so forth (which makes them go in "different directions" making more of a braid than a spiral). Aside from that the pattern is working out beautifully. Is there something I have missed?Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02836323293839910981noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19637353.post-77512043847560443002011-07-19T17:24:00.533-07:002011-07-19T17:24:00.533-07:00I've never done a cable knit before, though I&...I've never done a cable knit before, though I've been knitting for a while, and my name just so happens to be Anna, so I figured this was meant to be! You can pretty much try the hat on as you go and once it gets up past your ears to the part where your head gets narrower, you can begin decreasing.Windanseahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13987187978739557961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19637353.post-1524183161279202702009-12-30T11:48:50.142-08:002009-12-30T11:48:50.142-08:00I would like to try my hand at your great pattern,...I would like to try my hand at your great pattern, but I know I will need more than 72 stitches. But you don't give a length gauge - about how long do you think the hat should be before I start the decreases (including the ribbing, I guess)? That'll give me an idea. It looks like I'm getting 6 sts/in, and about 7 rows/in in the swatch I just knitted in stockinette.Cryshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16637254073441628078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19637353.post-69433953573482500542009-09-24T22:29:29.519-07:002009-09-24T22:29:29.519-07:00Hi Anonymous, you're right, it's a bulky y...Hi Anonymous, you're right, it's a bulky yarn. Here's the info on it at yarndex:

http://www.yarndex.com/yarn.cfm?yarn_id=2737

You can substitute any yarn that will give you the same gauge, or try doubling a worsted yarn to see if that's close. Hope that helps!Windanseahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13987187978739557961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19637353.post-18496081313216985982009-09-24T21:07:19.803-07:002009-09-24T21:07:19.803-07:00I was just settling in to start knitting this hat ...I was just settling in to start knitting this hat when I realized that I don't know what weight yarn to use. You specify Knitpicks Sierra, but I haven't been able to find that yarn or even information about it to give me a clue what weight and fiber content I should be looking for. I'm guessing it's a bulky yarn based on the number of stitches and needle size called for in the pattern, but can you narrow it down a bit more for me?
